I never buy recipes books which have no pictures. I need to know what the end product looks like,
otherwise what would be the point?
Food photographers are artists in my book. It takes a very creative and talented individual to make
alfalfa sprouts (bleckh) look good enough to eat.
Of course, the internet has made it terribly easy to get recipes. I wondered if there were serious food
photographs on it though. My hunt for them led to the following sites…
This is the first site I stumbled upon (Yay me!). It’s a beautiful
site with wonderful photographs and recipes. It is owned by Todd
Porter and Diane Cu, who are professional food and lifestyle
photographers and filmmakers.
From their about page, I found out that they’ll be releasing their
very own cookbook this year. Judging from their site, I’m sure
it’ll be wonderful.
Sounds like my type of blog. Now about
Stephanie, a food and travel photographer and a
linguist??!!?? Just goes to show you can dream
and be whatever you want. You go girl! Fantastic
blog by the way.
Vanessa Rees is a commercial photographer. Her about page is
filled with her numerous achievements. The photographs on her
blog are rustic and brilliant.
I really liked his story. Originally an Italian chef, he expanded his horizon to food photography and
beyond. Surprisingly enough, unlike the other sites, I did not find any recipes on his. Just really classy
food photography. Bring it!
“Having the knowledge and skill set to make your own food
empowers you to make better food choices and can ultimately
lead to a more fulfilling life.”
I totally agree with Joy. Her photography totally accomplishes
the fresh and wholesome feeling she is aiming for.
There is a lot more delectable food photography out there.
Mouth watering stuff that would blow your mind and have you salivating.
Food is a basic need. You could just consume slop and fill your tummy. But isn’t it more satisfying to
eat from a beautifully plated dish? It may not be necessary but it’s sure pleasing to the eye and if you
are lucky, to the palate as well.
